Terms of service

Last updated 20 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the Pinstrike Android app and the Pinstrike compile service at api.pinstrike.app (together, "Pinstrike"). Pinstrike is provided by Arc Labs AS, a Norwegian company (arclabs.no), referred to as "we" or "us". By using Pinstrike you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Pinstrike.

What Pinstrike is

Pinstrike lets you write sketches on an Android device, compile them on our compile service and upload them to supported microcontroller boards over USB. The app and the compile service are free.

Your code

You keep all rights to the sketches you write. You give us only the permission needed to compile them when you ask the app to, as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for having the right to use any code you compile.

Acceptable use

Use the compile service only to compile sketches for your own boards through the Pinstrike app or for your own testing.

You may not try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, run anything on it other than a normal compile, access other people's data or the systems behind the service, build firmware meant to harm people, property or other systems, or resell the service as your own.

We may limit or block access that breaks these rules or puts the service at risk.

Hardware

Pinstrike uploads sketches through the bootloader already on your board and does not change fuses or the bootloader. You are responsible for your wiring, power supply and what your sketch does to the hardware connected to the board. Double-check circuits before powering them, and don't connect your phone to anything that could carry more than normal USB voltage.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the compile service running, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or unchanged. Compiles are rate-limited to keep the service fair. We may change, pause or stop parts of Pinstrike, and we may update these terms; the current version is always published here with its date.

No warranty

Pinstrike is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited by contract.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or damage to hardware arising from your use of Pinstrike. This doesn't limit liability for gross negligence, intent, or anything else that can't be limited by law.

Open-source and trademarks

The compile service runs the official Arduino CLI and the Arduino AVR core, which are open-source software under their own licences. Arduino® is a registered trademark of Arduino S.r.l. Pinstrike is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Arduino.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and disputes are settled by the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer, you keep any protection and any right to bring a claim in your own country that the law where you live gives you.
