Privacy policy

Pinstrike is an Android app for writing, compiling and uploading sketches to Arduino-compatible boards. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. This policy covers the app, the Pinstrike compile server at api.pinstrike.app and this website.

Who is responsible

Pinstrike is made by Arc Labs AS, a Norwegian company (arclabs.no). Arc Labs AS is the data controller for the little data described below.

Data stored on your device

Your sketches and settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. If Android backup is turned on, Android may include them in your device backup under Google's backup terms. Uninstalling the app deletes them from the device.

Data sent to the compile server

When you tap Compile or Upload, the app sends the sketch's source files, the sketch name and the selected board type to the compile server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The server uses them only to compile your sketch.

• Source files are written to a temporary folder, compiled in an isolated container without internet access, and deleted as soon as the compile finishes.
• The compile result (compiler messages and the compiled firmware) may be kept in the server's memory for up to one hour, so that compiling the identical sketch again is instant. It is never written to disk and is lost when the server restarts.
• Your IP address is used in memory to limit how often one connection can compile, to protect the service from abuse. It is not logged or stored.
• Server logs record only a build identifier, board type, success or failure and duration. They never contain your code or your IP address.

Your code is not used for any other purpose, is not shared with or sold to anyone, and is not used to train AI models.

The compile server and this website run on Microsoft Azure in Sweden, inside the EEA. Microsoft acts as our hosting provider.

USB devices

The app talks to boards you connect over USB only after you grant Android's USB permission. Data from the board, such as serial monitor output, stays on your device.

This website

pinstrike.app sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies; fonts are served from this site. The web server does not keep access logs.

Children

Pinstrike does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we don't store personal data about you, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you think we hold something about you, contact us and we will check and respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or the authority in your own country.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
